The Skatalities can be without any doubts described as essential rocks of ska and following progress of reggae. Although the very first meeting of this musicians took place already in 1955, the band dates its beginnings since 1964, where their first successful record SKA AUTHENTIC was released. Part of this band in its beginnings was even Bob Marley himself or trombone player Don Drummond, who died already in revolutionary year 1969. After death of bassist Lloyd Brevett and his brother, the original line-up is today represented only by Lester Sterling and Doreen Shaffer, but still it is ride, which is worth of see and hear live. Well deserved they are essential band for ska, the same as for example The Wailers, Specials or Madness. They are travelling intensively all around the world and repeatedly they’ve been nominated for Grammy. Album HI-BOP SKA got the American Independent Record Distribution award.
