Report from packed Seeed live show in Dresden

5.6.2004, I remember it as if it was today – we were in Roxy club, about 200 people, of which about 150 were Germans living in Prague. And it’s been 9 years now. One of the first real dancehall shows i ever saw in Prague. By the way, does anyone have video of that night? Their most recent and a bit of a special plate, I’m probably on the fifth listening „overpowered“ and I got it in the end , so I was looking forward to the new stuff live. The Open air Arena in the Centre of Dresden, sold out concert in the framework of their tour 2012-2013, the capacity , an estimated 25,000 people to Seeed just …

Waiting for the dark was filled by a very unusual German big funk band. Sometime after the ninth Seed was comming on a terraced scene. Without any major effects, a short intro and then immediately „Dancehall Caballeros“, „Molotov“ with a special riff, „Wonderful Life,“ „Schwinger“ and it was in a somewhat shortened versions of a maximum of two refrains, and let’s go on. „Waterpumpee“ was the first reggae, „Release“, „Deiner Zeit“ with the whole amphitheatre singing the chorus, „Dickes B“, etc., but what about something from the solo record by Peter Fox? Finally – „Alles neu“ sung slowly on Real Rock riddim, in the end even on the original fast „string“ version.

„Augenbling“ the biggest hit of the last plate, calming during „Walk Upright“, and then we’re going to the finals with an almost acapella version of „You and I“ finally „Schwarz zu Blau“. … and the „Haus am See“ not, or what? Okay, probably not…, and the first farewell party with King Rodriguez. Niceness begin with the novelty „Beautiful“, then they made us happy with „Schüttel dein Schpeck“ and all ended up with the chorus version of „Ding“.

Generally, no major experiments and effects were used, just a very well played show with more than 10 band members and three strong frontman, where everybody knows what to expect and how to enjoy it. The second half of the concert was liven up by a quartet of drummers from the U.S. Cold Steel, even though their job was more dance decorative, than music …
Seeed remains a great cohesive band, with Peter Fox standing as the clear frontman, above all, thanks to his solo plate STADTAFFE in 2008/09 than to their last album Seeed, the German stadiums are sold out for the second year in a row. Indeed, STADTAFFE has sold 1.2 million copies in Germany, which is more than all of the previous Seeed albums put together. Respect the Seeeds.
