Chronixx gave to Prague trully fantastic performance

Chronixx and the Zinc Fence band show in Prague fulfilled a dream of several people and I was one of them. Even though I saw him a month ago at the German Festival Summer Jam, I could not miss Thursday’s premiere in our country. Around 8 pm, the doors of Pragues Lucerna Music bar opened and a few anxious people rushed inside straight away. Selector Major P. was waiting for them downstairs. After his set, the Chair on stage was filled by Mr. Cocoman and instead of Solid Vibez he brought „only“ his guitar this time. He played a unique acoustic set, which had an intimate atmosphere. Amongst the songs he played there was a modified version of „Zavírám krám“ or his first song „Jedna Láska“. But the top of the night was yet to come. After Cocoman the guys from Zinc Fence appeared on stage, a bunch of young musicians, who are having their first common tour of Europe this year. They warmed up the tools, and soon after Chronixx came on stage. This talented young man started slow, however, he immediately warmed up the club with his song „Start and Fyah“ , the classic „Slavery Days“ by Burning Spear and they won the audience. They played other remakes, as was the hit „Rivers Of Babylon“ by The Melodians.

Chronixx has not released an album yet, even though a collection of his songs is large-scale. Right from the beginning we saw an excellent „Modern Warfare“, it was followed up with an equally high-quality „They Dont Know“. Visitors got several personal explanations, that at least for me, improved the overall experience. Chronixx gave us a taste of the proper dose of a successful Tropical Escape Riddim and his „Nah Give Up“, he offered as well „Gimme Likkle One Drop“ by Tarrus and „No Capitalist“ by Kabaka Pyramid. People obviously enjoyed it, it was manifested as well by their interaction with the singer, burning lighters and dancing. At the end of the show we got a short lesson on music history of Jamaica and subsequently it was all closed by two of the singers most famous singles, „Behind the Curtain“ and „Warrior“, which, together with the band, he threw into the energetic dancehall base. Already for the second time in one month Chronixx proved to me that he is not only talented in the studio , but also on stage. His charisma literally filled the club. His enthusiasm for his beliefs and faith outside of music were obvious. Perhaps it will not be the last time he visits us, we can only hope for a rapid return. In the meantime you can go to Hip Hop Kemp next week, where there will be performing one of the next generation of roots reggae artists – Kabaka Pyramid. They will also play during the same weekend at the Slovak Uprising Festival. And if that’s still not enough for you, you can expect Chronixx DREAD & TERRIBLE EP in September. „Jah Ova Evil right pon me heart, babylon afraid when the gideon start, man and warrior wooooi ….“
